While we do maintain an administrative office in Canmore, trips do not take place there!  Be sure to go to the River Base for your actual river experience.

Wild Water Adventures

All Wild Water Adventures rafting trips depart from our River Base at 2750 Beaverfoot Road, Golden, BC, on the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) between Field and Golden. The River Base is about 45 minutes west of Lake Louise, 1.5 hours from Banff and 2.5 hours from Calgary, making us the closest Kicking Horse River outfitter to Calgary.

Getting to us

From The East (Calgary/Banff/Lake Louise):

  1. Drive west on TransCanada Highway #1, towards Banff, Lake Louise, Field and Golden.
  2. 20 minutes past Lake Louise, pass the town of Field (in Yoho National Park)
  3. 20 minutes or so past Field, leave Yoho National Park; Highway opens into double lanes
  4. Take 1st right-lane exit onto Beaverfoot Road; curve sharply downhill and through tunnel under highway
  5. Turn right at stop sign and drive uphill towards Wild Water Adventures on left
  6. Turn left onto gravel driveway (just before the highway) and drive down to River Base.

From The West (Golden/Radium):

  1. Drive east on TransCanada Highway #1, towards Field, Lake Louise and Banff
  2. In approximately 13km, cross over Kicking Horse River on highly elevated bridge
  3. In another 3km or so, pass 10 Mile Hill Brake Check (on right and left)
  4. In about 5 minutes or 8km, take right-lane exit at Beaverfoot Road, turning immediately to the right onto Wild Water Adventures’ gravel driveway
  5. Carry on downhill to our spacious guest parking area at the River Base

GETTING HERE FAQS

Our River Base is about 1.5 hours west of Banff on the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1). It’s about 45 minutes from Lake Louise and 2.5 hours from Calgary.

Highway 1 runs through Banff and Yoho National Parks. If you drive straight through without stopping, you don’t need a park pass. If you plan to stop in either park, you’ll need one.

 

Every trip starts and ends at our River Base, where you’ll check in, get geared up and change afterward. A bus takes you from the River Base to the put-in inside Yoho National Park and back again after the trip.

Mountain Time, the same as Banff, Lake Louise and Calgary, so there’s no time change on your drive from Alberta.

  • Lake Louise: about 45 minutes
  • Field: about 20 minutes
  • Golden: about 20 minutes
  • Banff: about 1.5 hours
  • Canmore: about 1.5 hours
  • Calgary: about 2.5 hours

Arrival and Parking Times to the River Base

Please arrive at the River Base by 8:45 AM for morning trips or 1:45 PM for afternoon trips. All times are Mountain Time, the same as Banff, Lake Louise and Calgary. Guest parking is on site, free and with room for RVs and trailers. Our heated change rooms let you get ready before your trip and warm up after.
 
Highway 1 can have construction delays and closures, so check current road conditions on DriveBC before you leave. If you’re running late, call us at 403-522-2211.
